You can manage mainstream media. Not internet

Mainstream media can chose to be diplomatic about PRP cash collection but you cant shut up bloggers who had friends who tried for tickets and faced bitter experiences. Yes we may not have proofs but it doesnt take a genius to put one and one together.

First I question the timing and motivation for Chiru's political move. This is discussed in another post in the past.

Second, we question the authenticity of candidate's selection procedure. To win caste vote, you gave most tickets to BCs. What does that prove ? Nothing. What do you have to lose by that? Nothing. Arent there enough BCs in the state wealthy enough to buy tickets ? absolutely. Are they the minority or majority if you remind everybody that voting to your caste person is important. Majority. That is what Samajika Nyayam means

Third. Chiranjeevi and Allu Arvind's past history of generosity. CC trust is a NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION. It is not a CHARITY. They might cry bloody murder if someone points a finger at it but the matter of fact is NOT a lot of investment goes from Chiranjeevi's pockets. If it is negative revenue company and Chiranjeevi is supporting it financially, dont you think they would highlight in the elections instead of screaming at people who ask for the accounts ?
Yes, the noble cause is commendable. The fact that thousands of fans are mobilized to donate blood and eyes is really a great thing. BUT, why keep the accounts secret? Would you try to not disclose your Charity organization's accounts ? The fact of the matter is, they will have to face these questions if they bring attention to CC trust.

1) Is it really a charity or a non-profit organization. For starters, the difference is that NPO is commercially run, but nobody gets to take the profits it made. It is re-invested into the organization. A lot of people including myself, still deem this noble and praise worthy. But it is popular belief that Chiranjeevi "charitable" trust is a Charitable organization. It is not.

2) How much money of his own was put into it ? A few years back, when there was a backlash against Chiranjeevi acting in Cola ads, he gave a statement that the money is being used for CCT. This statement will come under scrutiny and the chances are "part" of the ad income may have gone into it but if that he claims was true, they would have used it in the election propaganda way more than they do now. I dont think there are many who think Chiranjeevi is shy of taking credit for good deeds.

Fourth and Final: Transparency. When you say you are going to bring change, dont act like other parties whose cashflow is more confidential than British Queen's inner wear. SHOW how you are different. DECLARE how much donations you got so far and WHO is sponsoring for the 100 crore public meetings. RESPOND to the allegations by 100s of ticket aspirants who spent money hoping to get ticket but were turned down because they did not "volunteer" to give more funds in the last moment. Dont give a clean chit to your in-law saying nothing happened and accuse the victims(read fans and earlier supporters who invested EVERYTHING they had into the party for 6 months) of being "GO BELLS(some fans are using this word. it is Goebbels)"

Dear Mr. Kingshuk Nag:



My colleagues have drawn my attention to two reports the Times of India, Hyderabad, carried in its editions dated March 26 and April 3, 2009.



Let me make it abundantly clear right at the outset that the Lok Satta movement and the Lok Satta Party have had the fortune of attracting thousands of women all over the State into their fold for more than 12 years now. Given their concerns, we show them enormous respect and go out of our way to place them on a higher pedestal. Against such a backdrop, the Lok Satta regards the outrage of the modesty of any woman as totally unacceptable and reprehensible. The Lok Satta views such behavior on the part of anybody as highly unpardonable and more so when a party functionary is involved.



The moment I came to know of the allegation, I summoned my party functionary, C. Purnachandra Rao, and grilled him to ascertain the facts. Mr. Purnachandra Rao categorically asserted that he was not guilty of any alleged obscene behavior or outraging the modesty of any girl or woman. He also sent you a written apology for the inconvenience your reporter had to experience on account of bus travel at short notice. The Lok Satta, however, takes the allegation seriously since it has been made by a newspaper of standing like The Times of India. There are two options open to us. The first option is for The Times of India choosing an individual of standing to inquire into the alleged wrong-doing on the part of a Lok Satta functionary. The other option is for me as the Lok Satta Party President to constitute a two-member committee comprising Mr. K. Srinivasa Reddy, Member, Press Council of India, and Secretary General, Indian Journalists� Union, and a senior woman journalist. If the allegation is proved, we will take the sternest action against our party functionary.



I am deeply distressed that a reputed newspaper like The Times of India has chosen to tarnish the image of the Lok Satta which has become a byword and universally acknowledged for its ethical values and exemplary conduct. You chose to publish the report titled �Is JP learning tricks of the trade?� after our functionary had expressed his regret and tendered apology if he had caused any inconvenience to your reporter unwittingly. He was acknowledging the fact that he could not procure her a rail ticket at short notice for returning to Hyderabad the same night. I do understand the problems of journalists who undertake grueling journeys and race against time to file their reports. Common courtesy demands that the organizers make comfortable travel and accommodation arrangements for journalists on such assignments. This is especially important when women journalists are involved. In the particular case, I understand that all the journalists made it clear that they were keen on returning that very night as soon as they boarded the train at Secunderabad. So, our party functionaries had to abandon their plans to reserve accommodation in a good hotel at Nellore. And none of them objected to returning to Hyderabad by an air-conditioned Volvo bus that night. Your reporter, Mrs. Nikhila Henry, wanted to travel by train that night. When our functionary Purnachandra Rao told her that reservation by train at short notice was not possible, she too agreed to board the bus.



What is galling to me is that a reputed paper like The Times of India has blown the trivial issue out of proportion and deliberately and maliciously attempted to besmirch Lok Satta�s image. I have the highest regard for the media, and the Lok Satta recognizes the vital role of the press in a free society. Civil society, media and political parties are partners in the transformation of our society. Good will, mutual respect, tolerance and empathy among these groups is vital for harmonious functioning of a democratic society. We have always acted in that spirit, and will continue to do so in future. I hope you will publish my letter in full in your esteemed columns as per journalistic norms and make amends for your unwarranted and scurrilous diatribe. I also hope you will constitute the independent inquiry committee, failing which the Lok Satta will constitute such a committee for facts to be ascertained and appropriate action to be taken.

Eenadu supports JP?

Some people here think that JP is encouraged by Ramoji Rao. The current scenario in the state conflicts that view. There is a silent wave for going on for LS in the state. Higher middle class and middle class populii in the cities have made up their mind. 90% of people from Hyderabad I talk to are voting for LS. I heard there is a huge silent wave in Vizag also for LS party.
LS has thousands of young people taking leave at work and volunteering for the party. Some volunteers went from US to participate in campaigning and vote for LS. Hundreds of LS supporters are calling people in India using calling lists and marketing for the party. They are getting terrific feedback and people are talking to them about all other parties in the same tone.

No mention of all this anywhere in the Media.

Even eenadu that prints a color photo of Lakshmana Kumarudu NBK everyday fails to give front page space to LS. People who think eenadu favours JP should understand that it could easily hype up LS to be the winner and make it the winner if it wants to.
It is trying so hard to project MK as winner when the TDP is in shambles and the alliance is crumbled. If they did the same hype to LS, it would be backed by reason and logic and it would make a lot more sense to people and easily influence the result. At the end of the day, nobody who takes advantage of the current corrupt system want to see LS in power. That includes parties, power lobbyists, politicians and most of all, media.

All unprejudiced educated young voters are voting for LS this election. Other parties can safely forget the educated vote by next elections.
Media cant ignore LS for long.

Understand that this is the same reason Ron Paul and Kucinich were sidelined in the US presidential elections. All over the world, it is no longer the divide between idealogies of parties. It is the war between people and special interest groups.

JP has challenged all 3 leaders of other parties for a debate. Obviously they are chicken to stuff like that where their real knowledge will come out and they will be standing naked in front of the whole state. But even the media declines to take the challenge to people's notice even though that kind of debate would shoot their TRP off the charts.

The difference between other parties and LS is as clear as night and day and people are beginning to take notice. It wont be long before media budges.

Is it better to have Open Party List Ballot

Today there is an allegation that even LS party is selling tickets. Assuming all parties are guilty of this crime, would it be better if we followed a proportional representation system such as Open Party List Ballot mentioned here -

I have been thinking about how to reduce political corruption in India and this seems to be a feasible solution. The Pros are obvious but I am addressing some concerns here -

1) Parties fielding only one candidate - Set a minimum number of 5 candidates from each party to stop parties from fielding only one candidate by taking money from that one candidate. i dont think 5 candidates will be willing to pay money for a ticket as the risk of losing money/elections is 5 times more

2) Too confusing for voter - Use electronic voting machines to show contestant's faces along with party symbols if we are concerned about illiterate voters

Pls post more if you can think of anything else.

Finally I have one question, to implement this kind of system, would we need a change in the constitution or is it in the domain of EC ?

Why Samajika Nyayam will not work

Samajika Nyayam will have negative results because -
1) Just a leader coming from a certain backward community does not mean anything. Devender goud migilina gouds kosam enni laws techadu state lo ? They still pay 100Rs per tree per year as tax to govt. He did not even remove that. Why? cos even though his last name is Goud, he never practiced that profession and he cares just as much as a non Goud does.
2) Opportunity is given to only rich people of backward communities which is not going to solve the problem. It worsens the problem since the next generation leadership is again going to be kids of the same leaders since they got both the caste tag and the money. Same problem with reservations.
3) Kids growing up already have the parameters set as to what they can expect after they grow up. Reddy has 8% chance, Brahmins have 3% chance, Kapu has 15% chance of becoming a legislator etc.
4) Caste leaders will always remind people of their caste so there are not going to be any national leaders, just caste leaders.

First 10 minutes about how lucky he is. How thankful he is for the huge turnout of crowds. Dude, everybody knows how the crowds are gathered to any political meeting. If he doesnt know already, he should find out how the local leaders bring the headcounts they are assigned.There are consultancies that cater to sending people to political meetings. He should enquire who is paying for those. No need to get emotional about the headcount.It just means local leaders are spending money and they will be looking for returns soon.

Today megastar announced that they will make a decision on telangana in the right time. He is going to discuss with technicians(nipunulu) and come to a decision. Did we really need one more party to go in the EXACT SAME LINES as Congress and TDP ? What is he really trying to accomplish other than his own political aspirations with PRP ?
How many technicians do we need for that and how much time is needed? He was sitting idle for 9 months after SDMBBS. Didnt he find time to meet technicians then ?
First of all whoever (Read KCR) sought political solution to Telangana must be selfish and just looking to build his own career and existence. CBN is boasting that CTS scheme is the brainchild of Lokesh.First of all adhi oka dikku malina pathakam. Brazil lo 2% budget allot chesi run chestunnaru.CBN wants to spend 50% of state budget for this scheme.
Right now, as is the buget is running in deficit. Govt is not in a position to spend 1% more withoutgetting loans from world bank or selling off public property every month.
CBN is coming with a ridiculous arguement that state revenue goes up 20% every year.In this global recession, CBN is probably the only person who imagines revenues going up than down.
He also proposes generating revenue from infrastructure sector. What this translates in plain terms is this-
1) There will be toll booths on highways every 20 to 50 kms.
2) Water will be regulated and charged on a per gallon usage like electricity
3) Govt will not own any of the infrastructure including roads, bus stops, public toilets, airports, railway stations etc. Everything will be leased out to privaate companies like GVK and Maytas
4) All the remaining govt properties left by YS, if any, will be sold by CBN, AND he is going to incur more debt for our future generations that are not born yet.

CTS will bankrupt state and push people towards eternal debt. I dont know who is going to win, but I hope TDP loses.

Who wants to go through the long and eloberate process of figuring out how taxes go up and down! Who cares. Someone looks sharp enough to know all those things. He's not gonna have to get into details about how the economy will be fixed. He seems smarter than our banker, so he must know what he is talking about. Our media was clueless about the crashing markets, how can we expect him to know all this stuff. His voice booming around town halls and stadiums saying it will be his priority is comforting enough. That made us feel lucky enough.

Those nay Sayers who said we need see what is wrong with us, not the world, were lunatics. How dare they question our sound fundamentals! So what if you spent years studying the world economies. So what if you think our phones cannot be tapped! All that wisdom can be hired. All that integrity aint gonna fetch a dime. It is faces that appeal to us. It is hope. It is promise. Clarity needed for PRP

Today Chiranjeevi gave an excellent interview on TV9. He gave very accurate and sharp answers on issues like personal attacks in politics. You can tell he is acting more dignified than other leaders. He gets irritated when someone asks about clarity. Here are the things he need to clarify -

1) No stand on Telangana- In Tirupati he said telangana is "Atmagourava Samasya". While that is appreciable, if he has said that his party favors "Separate State" in his speech, TRS would have allied with PRP than TDP and it would have swept all seats in Telangana.

2) Samajika Nyayam- PRP says it is for allotment of legislative opportunities based on caste numbers. When asked about how many seats they will give for backward castes, their response is "more than other parties". Why is it so confusing if you are clear that you are going to give seats based on caste strength ? Practical consideration is that they need to pick out leaders from all castes at the same time look at electability, spending power, support in constituency, incumbency factor, rebel equations and all the kinds of things that other parties worry about. If you are doing the same thing as other parties, what change are you proposing.

3) Still not giving out final list shows that they are waiting for rebel leaders from other parties to join PRP before finalizing the lists. There are 2-5 candidates expecting tickets from each constituency and spending money since 6 months. If they announced the candidates as soon as possible, the rebels would have cleared out either by continuing or quitting. Now there will be a pre-election backlash not only against internal competetion, but also because of opposition to rebels from other parties who got tickets easily


ps: some of my friends at TIDB believe that I am a hater and I have finally shown my true colors. Sorry. All the below posts are my posts in TIDB. People who have followed my posts know that I hate TDP and Congress and I have been vocal about PRP policies since beginning.

"Pratyeka Telangana" anadaniki noru raakapote atleast be honest and say that you are against separate state. That is why everybody says there is no clarity for PRP.

Telangana mottam "Pratyeka Telangana" kavali antunte ippudu meeru vachi kotta padaalu valle veyakandi.

Already many politicians have used telangana sentiment. Dont join that group by prolonging the issue without cutting to the chase.

Why Loksatta has my support and Why I dont care about you bashing JP

You have an illusion that we have the necessity to defend allegations on JP. He is a grown man. He can defend himself.

What I like about him is that he provided a framework for young people like me to work for the country via politics without resorting to caste, money or communal politics. I shouldnt have to instigate a group or section of population to gather support and my political benefit.

He is not beyond his ideals. He designed party principles such that him or his children can be challenged by everybody every year for leadership. Now tell me you can do the same thing in other parties.

I do not idolize him. I do not follow him. I do not even know him. But actions speak louder than words. and I see that he is committed to better India.

There is a chance that your allegations are right. Just like you dont know if they are right, i dont know if they are wrong.

But I can promise you one thing, the day I find out you are right, i will challenge him in his own party and contest against him. Whether I win or not will depend on how many people believe me. But at least I can send out a statement that I am a common man fighting against a party leader because he cheated his ideals.

I respect him because he provided that framework. I will make sure his ideals survive even if he does not stand by them, because I DO. Not for him, but for me and for my country.

Dont you think it is unfortunate if we are questioning his integrity without knowing him ? what if he is really sincere and does all the things that he is saying ? how would you feel if you were in their place?
what are you questioning ? his timing? he quit IAS when he had his whole career ahead of him. his motivations? is he trying to help just his community? cant he do that better being an IAS or Bureaucrat? his conviction ? he has spent 20 years of his youth fighting for electoral reforms. seva tho change raadhu. mother teressa valla desam lo em change vachindi? the only solution to problems of India is through clean politics.
I hope you notice I am not comparing him with other party leaders and their timing, motivations, convictions and intellect. I will let you do it yourself.

Leadership is about inspiration. Even if JP fixes every problem in the country, what happens when he dies? India will survive only if the young people step up to fix their problems. JP Chiranjeevi Nagarjuna Azharuddin evaru emi cheyaleru.

JP is the only leader in INDIA that I know that offers practical solutions to every problem that we face as a society

if any of their policies are flawed, he speaks against. proofs lekunda allegations cheyadam valla entha mandi jail ki vellaru e roju varaku. he is saying rid the police and courts of politicians so all these scams can come out. to me that sounds like a better solution than using corruption as a punchline for votes

Just dropping in...JP devudu ani cheppatledu...He is way better than exisiting politicians. His policies make more sense, to me atleast.

PRP/Chiru certainly has more power/charisma/ability to attract votes than LS/JP. No argument. So Chiru unarguably has more power to bring change if he wanted to. Though very positive about PRP, I had changed opinions coz:

1. Caste based distribution of tickets. Caste taking more importance than character of a person.
2. Caste/religion based policies like free power for "vysyas' business", mosque in every village etc. Where is state separated from religion?
3. Free flow of ppl with criminal/shady backgrounds into PRP.
4. Very strong indications that they are going to use money power. First Bhuma support chesina candidate money panchutu dorikithe athanu PRP kadu ani statement. Malli gelichaka idi Bhuma vijayam ani statement.

Money panchakunda gelavadam ante comedy ga undochu, true, Kani where is the change everybody is talking about?

Chiru has 10 times more capability than JP to bring that...unfortunately the above incidents prove otherwise...

regarding JPs financial status...we all can know that when everybody declares their assets before elections.

Using technology to snub freedom of speech

We see lot of telugu forums used for mud slinging, filthy bashing, and pushing agenda. This sick culture is not limited to print and visual media in our state, it has creeped into electronic media. Most of the websites that have a reasonable user base that participate in discussions (50-100 active users) tend to push an agenda as a group and do not tolerate any post opposing their party's policies or procedures.
It started with telugucinema.com that used to have a devoted group of N hero fans that used to delete threads started against NBK. All Chiranjeevi fans ran to idlebrain.com for shelter and ibdb ran the forums reasonably well until they started having server issues and people stopped posting there cos all the previous posts keep getting deleted.
Now the forums moved to tollywoodinfo.com, apparently a Chiranjeevi fan site. They do everything that telugucinema.com used to do them and do not tolerate
anybody posting anything analyzing PRP policies or agenda. They deleted a post by me asking PRP to not use the term "Samajika Telangana" instead of "Pratyeka Telangana". Most of the members there are reasonable enough to have a civil discourse but some sensitive fans create drama and try to discourage
anybody from talking anything that is not praising PRP and Chiranjeevi.
As a fan of both Pawan Kalyan and Loksatta, I find it utterly ridiculous and decided that instead of trying to talk to them, i would be spending my time
better if I post my thoughts on a broader platform that understands freedom of speech and google bomb the crap out of it so any search results on PRP or Chiranjeevi will end up on this site.
